How much in rewards do I get for hosting?

What you receive in rewards is outlined in the Hostess Rewards Sheet. Rewards are based on the sum total of the retail orders (before customers’ taxes ands shipping). Based on the % of rewards based on retail orders $250 + meeting the minimum of 4 orders/people, you are rewarded $37.50 in free jewelry and can go up to several hundred dollars in FREE jewelry. $1000 in retail orders is $300 in FREE jewelry for you. How to Be Known in Your Origami Owl Business

Yesterday, I resurrected a blog post from 2013 where I talked about the importance of bringing value to those we meet in networking groups. I stated that instead of talking about my products for the 8 mins I was allotted (it’s what people do with it), I used the time to help them with their business. I brought value to them instead of me trying to make them understand the value of my products. How did I do this and what did I share with them?

I shared with them the importance of people getting to know them and how they can be known and be liked, while they are everywhere else or asleep. I shared my personal experiences and results and if they wanted it too, it’s time they make the change in one aspect of their business. I stated that if a mom with 2 little kids with no car and no money for a sitter can excel in business because of what I have done, especially in a party plan business, they definitely can too.

What am I talking about here? I am talking about establishing an online presence. People are going to look you up and your business and it is up to you what they will see. What is popping up when that happens? Is it crickets or plenty of your not-so-shining moments at a frat party? Make your online first impressions count because, like I said, people do business with people they know and like, so be known and be likeable.

Having an online presence in the form of a blog or any of the numerous social media platforms can help business on top of what they already do. They are, after all, already there to meet people. Why not have a way for people to learn more about them and reconnect beyond the initial point of contact. An online presence transcends the human limits of time and place.

Now I am asking you, are you giving people the opportunity to get to know you and like you, even while you sleep? People don’t like to do business with strangers. It’s time to stop being a stranger. Be known and be likeable.

Are you ready? Don’t worry or fret too much over the process. Get started with how you will get online. Will it be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Periscope, or a blog? Decide and get on it. It is not until you get online can you be likeable online. If you’re not online at all, what’s there to like? Being online is not going to make your business go from zero to hero but it will boost what you already do. Give it a shot. Your business will thank you and you will thank you.

Bringing Value to People, Not Just Products #NetworkingGroups

If you’ve been in some time as an independent contractor or solopreneur for any company, you may have had your try at attending networking events. People go to these things to drum up business and get to know people and eventually hope to sell their products or services.

Wednesday, is my networking day. I have been going to this group regularly and truly have been enjoying it. Last week, I won the slot to present for 8 minutes. In the 8 minutes, we can talk about anything we want. From what I have seen, the default is an 8 min commercial of one’s business. In a nutshell, 8 minutes of shameless plug 🙂

As I prepped my PowerPoint in the days prior to my 8 minute talk (I’ve heard people hate PowerPoint), I thought, how can I not make this suck? Then it came to me: I was going to provide value.

The past month, every week, they have heard my 30 second commercial. They know what I do, they know what I sell. So oh joy! or oh bore, 8 minutes of that this week? I should just play them one of my YouTube videos and sit down.

But this is my 8 min chance to sell me, so what should I do? I’m expected to talk about me, but should I?I did do what they expected but not much… and with a twist.

I briefly introduced me, presented my company’s founder and mission statement, one of our fundraiser results, the products, and why I do what I do.

Then I transitioned to what I have learned the past year and how I was able to make changes that they too can make to grow their business. I saw the attention focus on me and people were more interested in listening. Was I just imagining this. Maybe. I had their attention and I brought value to them because it was something that can help them and not just me telling them to buy from me. I brought them value (to them instead of to me and my products.

The next time you are to asked to talk about you for anything more than 30 seconds at a networking event, I highly recommend you bring your value, not just product. Your business and the people around you will appreciate you.

Are There Any Quotas to Do Origami Owl?

Some may say there are no “quotas” in Origami Owl but that is not entirely true. You can’t really just be a part of something and absolutely have nothing be required of you in exchanged to be listed in their systems as an Origami Owl Independent Designer. If there was no quota, everyone could list themselves and sell Origami Owl on a whim. So when people ask me about quotas to sell Origami Owl, I ask, “What do you mean by quotas?” because there are different numbers for different things within Origami Owl. When it comes to quotas, what they really mean, “Is there a quota to sell to be a part of Origami Owl?”

The company require that each Ind. Designer (wanting to continue on their Origami Owl business) have completed 250PV (wholesale) in jewelry sales within the last 6 months in their Origami Owl business. 250PV is the new number as of March 2015 and is no longer the 199 that it has been since opening in late 2011. The previous 6 months will determine if the Ind. Designer will be able to sell Origami Owl for the following month in Origami Owl.

For example:

Month 1 – 150

Month 2 – 0

Month 3 – 0

Month 4 – 25

Month 5 – 50

Month 6 – 25

Month 7 –

Month 8 –

Looking at this PV list above that shows the previous 6 months of PV of an Origami Owl Ind. Designer, according to Origami Owl’s rules, will the Ind. Designer be able to sell in Month 7?

Yes, because Months 1 – 6 adds up to 250PV. On Day 1 of Month 7, the system will still function and the Ind. Designer can continue to function as an Origami Owl Ind. Designer.

Looking at the same chart above, will the Ind. Designer be able to sell in Month 8?Yes, BUT ONLY if in Month 7, the Ind. Designer has done 150PV. This is because by Month 8, ‘Month 1’ is no longer used in the calculation of the the 250PV. The 250PV is always based on the last 6 months of being an Origami Owl Ind. Designer. To sell in Month 8, the PV in Months 2 – 7 is what is taken into account. This is also known as a “rolling” requirement in PV and in Origami Owl, it is the last 6 months.

Not meeting the previous 6 months PV “quota” locks you out of the Origami Owl Ind. Designer System as of the 1st of the new month. You will no longer be able to sell Origami Owl online on one’s Origami Owl website or have access to the Back Office where one can purchase items on wholesale/discount or view the company training for all Ind. Designers. You may appeal your reason to be able to sell again and each appeal is looked at on a case-by-case file. From personal experience from my team, some are allowed back in with a 1 time exemption and some are not allowed back in. Those allowed back in must do their 250 PV and those not allowed back in must sit out for 6 months before they can apply to be with Origami Owl again and will have to purchase the current Business Starter Package. Not being in Origami Owl for 6 months means half the year of earning potential gone and most likely, you will be missing out on a high selling season such as Christmas or Mother’s Day. So, get your PVs in check and don’t miss out.

My video shares how you can meet PV requirements by sales (individual customer sales or jewelry bar sales), by purchasing jewelry at a wholesale to resell at a retail as a vendor, for display on one’s Origami Owl table to encourage sales to one’s website, or for one’s personal use.

Before I go, I want to answer another question you may have…

What is PV?

PV is the retail number minus the commission number.

For example, a $30 locket. Commissions on lockets are 30%. Therefore, the PV on the $30 locket is 20PV and 10 is the number for commission. Ind. Designers make $10 on a $30 locket. We do not get PV (personal volume points) for our commission amount.

I hope this has answered your question in regards to quota to stay in with Origami Owl. There are other “quotas” within the company but this is the main one to be aware of. The other numbers are numbers to get paid a bonus – voluntary on your part to take part in and attainable with some sales hustle – and not a requirement to stay in and be a part of Origami Owl.

I wish you the very best and do encourage you to join Origami Owl. There is plenty of training from the company available to understand all of this stuff. Once our sister owls in Canada get their kits, I am pretty sure it will grow rapidly there as Origami Owl jewelry really are more beautiful than what other locket companies or jewelry companies currently have to offer. I was the 186th Designer in the USA and it has been a pretty nice journey. Personally, The 250Pv is a non-issue. It is so easy to sell Origami Owl despite the 65,000 reps in the USA.
