She Found the San Diego Butterfly Drop!

January 12, 2015 by Jennylou

On my last post, I talked about the Butterfly Effect Project I was a part of, and explained how you can take part too and have $250 for your chosen charity.  Everything went as planned and by the end of the game (3 clues to where it is), someone found it and $250 was well on its way to her chosen charity.  Take a look how the San Diego butterfly drop went!

I posted the 3 following clues on 3 of my social media sites: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

San Diego Butterfly Drop Origami Owl Clue 1

San Diego Butterfly Drop Clue 2 Bernardo Winery

Origami Owl san Diego Butterfly Drop Clue 3

Before the last clue was posted, someone knew exactly where to head. She even said, “Hold on little butterfly, I’m coming for you!” There were a couple of people I knew of that were heading for it, and probably more that I was not aware of. But in the end,  only 1 can claim the butterfly.

The one who found this butterfly… her name is Amy and she chose the $250 to be donated to Casa de Amparo, a shelter for women and children. Thank you Amy for participating and being the first to get there and may Casa de Amaparo feel blessed with you thinking of them.

**

By the end of the day, Butterfly Effect – Be the Change, had donated $3000 to causes across the country through 12 people finding the 12 butterflies and directing it to 12 causes near and dear to their hearts.

To read in more detail about the butterfly drops that were done in part with Origami Owl + Bella + Designers, visit http://www.butterflyeffectbethechange.com/butterfly-drop-tribe/origami-owl-swarm/.  May your heart be full too <3.

With these acts of kindness, may we all remember and may we always continue to be the change we want to see in the world.

Sincerely,

Jennylou Raya

Butterfly Effect Be the Change – Butterfly Drop San Diego Jan. 11

January 11, 2015 by Jennylou

A couple of days ago, I posted on my sites and dropping clues about a butterfly.  This was one of them:
Origami Owl San Diego Butterfly Drop

Today at SOAR 2015, the talked a little bit about this butterfly drop and how it will be taking place in 13 cities across the nation tomorrow.  And yes, San Diego is one of them. I have the butterfly to be dropped and found by you San Diego!

Read on and find out all the details!!!

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

“Be the change you want to see.”

I love this quote, but it begs the question. “How?”

As a little girl my father nicknamed me “Butterfly,” and I’ve loved these creatures ever since. For me butterflies represent hope, rebirth, faith, and love.
There is a book called “Miss Rumphius” that tells a story about leaving beauty where ever you go. I love this idea. But how to capture it for myself?

The butterfly effect was a theory presented by Edward Lorenz in 1963 to the New York Academy of Science stating “a butterfly can flap its wings and set molecules of air in motion, which would move other molecules of air, in turn moving more molecules of air-eventually capable of starting a hurricane on the other side of the planet.”

I have a fledgling idea of how I want to be the change, and hopefully set into motion molecules of hope, that will set into motion molecules of faith, that will set into motion molecules of love.

I am privileged to get to travel all over the world. And as I travel I plan to drop butterflies in big cities and small towns, in hidden crevices and sunlit corners, on sandy beaches and in shady trees.

– Tasha Wahl

JENNYLOU WILL…

Just as Tasha has been doing, I will post a picture of the finished butterfly I will be dropping, in the morning. Then. I will post the part of San Diego it is in and the clues to the specific location where it can be found. The first to find the butterfly gets to keep it!

YOU WILL…

And here is where it gets fun. If you find the butterfly, follow the directions on the back. Email me, text me, or post the picture of you and the butterfly and share with me your contact information.

TASHA WILL….

She will then donate money to a charity or philanthropy of your choice in your name. The butterfly is yours, but the gift you give to someone else are the molecules of change that will bring hope, rebirth, faith and love to the world.
Together, we can Be the Change we want to see.

What’s the catch?  There isn’t one.  We are all here to do our part in being the change we want to see.   We only need to do our part.

Let’s all say Yes! to Changing the World One Butterfly at a Time.

Who: YOU

What: GO FIND THAT BUTTERFLY!

Where: Somewhere in San Diego County – as south as Chula Vista and as north as Escondido.

When: between 9 – 11 am (once it is dropped on location, I will start posting the clues on how to find it.)

Why: To bless a charity or cause near and dear to your heart.

… and How?

I will be posting a picture of the butterfly on my following social media sites:

http://twitter.com/locketsncharms

http://facebook.com/locketsncharms

http://instagram.com/locketsncharms

With these clues, the butterfly is to be found.
***

You’ve found the butterfly drop, now what?

There will be a note attached to the butterfly and it reads,

“Congrats! You just found a Butterfly Drop! Welcome to the Butterfly Drop Tribe – an underground movement that strives to seek the courage to face adversity in ways that lessen, rather than add to the suffering of the world. We move in small unexpected ways, one butterfly at a time.   If you found a butterfly- you are now a participant in the movement! Welcome!

1-     Take the butterfly down- it’s yours to keep as a memento of the movement

2-     Take a picture or quick 10 second video of you holding the butterfly and text to 858 248-0619 or email tashawahl@me.com

3-     Let us know what charity you would like us to donate to in your name. You pick the charity and we will donate $250.00 to the cause in your honor.

4-     Go to www.butterflyeffectbethechange.com to see who else is playing butterfly drop and what charities we’ve been honored to help.

Thanks for being the change you want to see in the world!

***

Last words from me:

I still have no idea where I will be doing the butterfly drop.  I have even a lesser idea of who will pick up the butterfly.  I await with you to see which cause or charity will be the recipient of $250 from Tasha. Thank you Tasha for being the change and letting all of us be a part of it with you!

Sincerely,

Jennylou Raya

Happy New Year to You from Me and o2 =)

December 31, 2014 by Jennylou

Today is the last day of your 2014 book. Before you start a new page, despite all the good and bad, up and downs in this roller coaster, drama, and unforeseen twists and turns in what we call life, what are you doing today to make your 2014 story have a great ending?

Today, I am tying up loose ends and finish what I can finish today so that tomorrow is a day of relaxation. Also, reflecting on the amazing provisions of God and going forward into the doors that He is opening for us in 2015!!

Wherever you are, know that you are LOVED and from our family to yours…

Happy New Year Owl Origami Owl

Cheers to you and…
To New Beginnings Origami Owl

… and may you be wide open and ready to receive the blessings and fullness that life has to offer.  Life is a gift, and for me, the best way to make use of it is to live it in such a way that blesses those around me and glorifies our Maker.

As we all finish off the year, our book of 2014, may we reflect, finish up, accomplish, what it was we wanted to do for the year.  Don’t let the unfinished, unresolved and untouched goals and desires get you down.  Simply bring over the old goals yet to be accomplished and make them new again. Our stories, our dreams and our goals are not over when 2014 closes.   Simply look forward to starting a new book: 2015.

What are some things that I will be doing this year?

2015 Origami Owl New Year

* Volunteer for my favorite cause. I will be continuing my favorite cause which is my Saturday morning volunteer opportunity with the beautiful ladies at a nearby convalescent home.  They love to get hands pampered and their nails painted (even though I am no good at it).  Just being there is enough. They bless me so much simply by allowing me to connect with them in this way.

*Work my fitness plan.  I will say that I am not a fitness buff.  I don’t like to sweat but I do miss the results I see after putting in some time at my nearby ballet barre studio.  When in a session, I’m thinking “OMG, what is this?!” And then you see the results and all is well again. But even more than that, the health for the heart and the ability of the body to defend and prevent itself from injury makes it even more important.

*Eat healthy.  This is a pretty easy one for me.  Almost all the foods that we eat are organic, locally sourced, and from reputable sources.  What I do need to work on is portion control and ask myself sometimes, “Do I really need a second bowl of white (organic) rice?”

*Make everyday a celebration.  This can be tough.  A list-maker that I am, I have lots to do, need to get through, and get done before I hit the pillow.  Sadly, I must admit here are days when I do not celebrate my kids or the hubby enough.  What I am learning is that kids and hubby have to be put on the list too or else, I don’t get to it. And when a few of these days go by, I’m a crying mess because I realize that I have missed out on the best things because I am working on good things.  Work is not bad, having lots to do is not bad. It is not celebrating what matters to me on a daily basis is what’s bad for me.  It may not look like it now, but it will surely surface later.  So, yeah… celebrate =)

And to add to this list, for 2015, I am working on work/life/family/teacher balance.  I am an Ind. Designer with Origami Owl, an Executive Team Leader with a wide frontline and deep rooted team.  I live life as a believer in service to God and others and my family.  My mantra for 2015 is “Execution, not Perfection” and that goes for my role in everything, including my role as a homeschooling mother and homemaker. Origami Owl allows me the flexibility to wear all these hats and fulfill all these roles.  I am thankful for all there is in my life and the opportunities that are plentiful and may I always have the wisdom and to do the best things over other things, no matter how good the other things may be.

I wish you the very best for you in 2015!!!
