Origami Owl’s Bella Weems on Seventeen Magazine!

September 24, 2014 by Jennylou

There she goes again, inspiring young women to follow their dreams! This time Bella is sharing her insights in the October issue of Seventeen magazine—available on newsstands now!

Inside, Bella offers advice for young women who want to take their ideas to the next level—be unique, don’t be afraid to take some risks, and look for your next step. She also reveals that she’s especially proud of Origami Owl’s Owlette program and how it can help girls build confidence, learn business skills, earn money and build a résumé.

Belle Weems Seventeen Magazine

I just picked up my copies an hour ago (incase I lose 1 – or 2 of them).  I think my customers will love seeing how something so small was able to grow from someone so young!

And to add a little bit of sweetness, I will be sending my top 3 (personally sponsored) in sales for September their very own copy.  Plus, anyone who decides to join Origami Owl with me from now until the end of October will be receiving one from me as well (while supplies last)!

Origami Owl Touches a Family Dealing with Childhood Cancer, Mother/Daughter Finds Success

September 13, 2014 by Jennylou

I found this article online about a sister owl and it talks about how her family was touched by Origami Owl in more ways than one. It goes on to talk about the amazing benefits of being part of Origami Owl – from being remembered while she was in the hospital with her son fighting childhood cancer, to having the ability to work and grow alongside her daughter while acquiring important life skills, to enjoying an all-expense paid trip to Cabo. I loved how Tracy said “It’s been one huge big beautiful disaster” referring to all they have through. Red the full article below:

Tracy Kopp’s hand closed around the locket hanging from her neck as she remembered spending a week in the hospital with her 5-year-old son Mitchel as he fought cancer.

That locket was a gift from the direct-sales company she works for, Origami Owl. She came home to find it, along with a handwritten note.

Inside the locket was a plate that read “Survivor” and charms related to her son — his initial, his birthstone, an angel wing, a “forever family” charm, an Origami Owl and a pediatric cancer ribbon.

The gift reminded her of why she joined the company in the first place.Tracy left her job as an executive assistant onMichigan Avenue when Mitchel was diagnosed — mere weeks before she gave birth to her youngest child, Taylor. She had been working full-time, commuting an hour and a half each way from Manteno and earning about $40,000 with benefits.

But when she discovered Origami Owl — founded in 2010 by a 14-year-old girl — the company’s support of childhood cancer instantly resonated with her.

She joined a network of more than 60,000 sales reps nationwide as an independent designer, coordinating parties called“jewelry bars” to sell Origami Owl’s personalized mix-and-match jewelry.

Party guests pick out a locket and select tiny, hand-painted charms to fill it up. Lockets can be interchanged between necklace or bracelet chains, and charms can be switched between lockets.

Tracy earns about 40 percent commission on each party, making between $25,000-30,000 annually. Not shabby, considering it’s part-time and she has flexibility.

“This has changed our lives,” Tracy said. “I’m able to set my own hours and paycheck and be home with the kids.”

She’s even able to bring her oldest daughter to work — as a partner.

At 12 years old, Angelina recently joined Tracy as an “Owlet.” That means that she has her own account set up and earns commission on whatever she sells.

“Who doesn’t love jewelry?” Angelina asked.

And it’s a lot more fun than working at a fast-food joint, one of Tracy’s first jobs.

“This is setting her up with tools that aren’t available anywhere else,” Tracy said, referring to the group health insurance and discounted college classes Origami Owl offers to the adults and teens they employ.

Plus, the preteen is practicing good time and money management, and learning people skills.

For Tracy, selling jewelry is a way to build relationships. That’s how she’s been able to move through the ranks to Senior Team Leader, supervising 70 saleswomen nationally.

Last year, she won an all-expense paid trip to Cabo San Lucas by selling $15,000 in merchandise in four months.

As of May, 10-year-old Mitchel has been chemo-free for one year, and though they wish the road could have been easier, both Tracy and Angelina are happy to have arrived where they are today.

“It’s been one huge big beautiful disaster,” Tracy said.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – Fundraiser 100% Donated to Rady’s

September 1, 2014 by Jennylou

Blog post edited: The spokesperson and fundraiser committee for Talia’s Legacy has opted to do the Cancer Drive with me in September/October 2015.  This year’s Childhood Cancer Fundraiser will be donated to Rady’s.

***
This month I commit to bringing awareness to Childhood Cancer through my social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram.   I will be sharing with you stories of those currently fighting and those that have received their angel wings.

By myself, I can get the word out and help spread a tiny bit of awareness but I have an even better idea: What if I open it up to others who want to help too?

Childhood Cancer Awareness Ribbon

Here are 2 ways you can help:

#1.  Social media.  I need you to let everyone know that 100% of my commissions when shopping for Origami Owl Jewelry will be donated to Talia’s Legacy and Rady’s Children’s Hospital.  Yes, 100% of my commissions – I make zero – nada – no money off of this. All will all be donated.  The sky is the limit to what this $ would be!

#2 Make a purchase.  Proceeds from your Origami Owl jewelry purchase will be going back to help Rady’s Children Hospital (Cancer division) here in San Diego. How does it work?  The link below will track your Origami Owl orders.  Every piece you buy is either 30% or 50% (my commissions) that will be donated to Rady’s. 50% items are birthstones, charms, hand-stamped plates and dangles.  All else is 30%.   You can order anything, including the Childhood Awareness Ribbon.  All of my sales commissions earned from your orders will be sent to the foundations in early October.

***

Let’s all be a force for Good. Whether you make a purchase or not, I would love your help in spreading the word on this online drive for Rady’s during September – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Please do share this blog post with friends and family touched by childhood cancer or just want to be a part of something greater and put a dent and potentially see an end to childhood cancers in our lifetime.

People talk about the power of social media and the downsides of social media.  I hope that this month, we can also highlight the good in social media.

Please repost this blog post on your social media accounts (Facebbok, Twitter, Instagram, etc) to help spread the word.  Thank you!

How to Stay in Origami Owl? Meet the 199!

August 27, 2014 by Jennylou

Lots of new exciting things have just unfolded as far as jewelry and perks for Independent Designers (ID).  There are lots of new eyes looking into becoming an Ind. Designer with Origami Owl.  I have found that one of the most common questions that I have been getting is “What is it to stay in Origami Owl,?” from those who have done Direct Sales before or currently in it now.

To the everyday person, that question might seem a bit off or odd?  Stay in?  Do they kick you out?  Why would they kick you out?

First off, let me just say that Origami Owl doesn’t just “kick you out.”  Secondly, this question refers to sales requirements and not being kicked out due to a clash in personal tastes.

When someone asks “How do I not get kicked out by Origami Owl,” before joining a company, it is mainly because they know that there is usually a minimum sales requirement for one to stay in with a direct sales company.  Direct sale companies can  really differ on these minimum sales requirements. For example, a bag company has a $200 in retail sales requirement every 2 months while a candle company has a $250 in retail sales every three months requirement.

All companies have some kind of standard, protocol, and rules when it comes to the job.  Particularly, in sales and commissioned sales, there is a minimum requirements to perform the job that one has signed up for and that is to sell.  Origami Owl has a 199PV wholesale (PV = retail minus commissions ) which is approximately equal to $250-300 in retail sales, every 6 months.

To meet the 199PV, you would need to sell Origami Owl.  You can gather sales by catalogs and order forms or online sales through one’s Origami Owl website.  Sales of Origami Owl products can be done 1 on 1 with a customer, a group of friends in a Jewelry Bar, or virtually through an online party link that directs sales and commissions to you.  All these ways of selling will go towards your 199PV requirement every 6 months.

After I answer this question, the next question from those in direct sales is “How does that 6 months work?  Is it a rolling 6 months?”

For those that have been in direct sales, the rolling time period is pretty simple: accrued sales numbers based on today’s numbers and back to the start of the period that the company counts.  For example, for Origami Owl’s 199pv every 6 months requirement, meeting 199PV by the end of this month (August 31st) is based on the sales of August and all the way back to March 1st.  Next month, the 199PV in the last 6 months will be from April 1st to the end of September.  Each time, one meets the 199PV (from accumulated sales within the 6 months) by the end of the current month’s last day at 11:59PM EST, the ID will be able to sell and stay as an Ind. Designer with Origami Owl the following month.

Let me share an illustration on how this rolling 6 months works as related to Origami Owl:

Let’s say an Ind. Designer (ID) today has 100PV stated in back office. To stay in o2 and not get cut off September 1st, this ID must do 99PV by end of August, bringing up his or her sales to 199PV.

Using the example above, note that August was a 99PV month for the ID, but what about next month at the end of September?  How much would she have to do to stay in with Origami Owl?

The ID would have to look in the back office and see his or her posted 6 month PV (or add up her sales PV for August, July, June, May, April, and March prior to the system calculating it).  Take this number and see how much one needs to sell by the month’s end, which is September 30, 11:59 EST.

PV posted in the back will always show you how far away you are from 199PV and staying with Origami Owl. An accrued 199PV in the last 6 months must always be met to stay in and sell for the next month.   If 199PV is not met, an ID will not be able to sell starting the 1st of the following month.  The system automatically shuts out those who do not fulfill this term.  There is no actual person that “kicks you out.”

Now that you know what the minimum sales requirement to not get “kicked out” and how the 6 months period works, you may want to know what you can do to not get “kicked out” or make the sales.

My short answer is to  do 1 or 2 jewelry bars in 6 months.  Not into “parties”?  Find 10 – 15 customers to sell to every six months.  (You can do less # of transactions and meet the numbers but I cannot guarantee your customers’ spending with you, so this is a guestimate.)  Any variety of ways to bring in sales processed through you with the Origami Owl system will help you continue with Origami Owl.

Feel free to check out my video I made on how to meet this 199 PV (http://youtu.be/d9Ft-FzpnDo) last year. It is still applicable to today.

I think I will leave it here.  I hope you have found this write up and how-to video on how to stay in with Origami Owl.

For those not sure if they want to stay in fall off Origami Owl, do consider  Origami Owl’s rule on those that fall off the Origami Owl system:  An ID cannot reenter Origami Owl until he or she has sat out for a full 6 months.  That means, if you drop off because of not meeting the 199 PV at the end of August, you will not be able to reenter or sell Origami Owl until March 1, 2014.  To learn more, ID’s please refer to your Policies and Procedures about this.  Those not in Origami Owl, you may contact me.

Origami Owl Jewelry Bar Display Basics Video {Fall & Bridal}

August 25, 2014 by Jennylou

Get in the spirit of the fall season while staying true to the o2 branding.

For your Fall Jewelry Bar table, take note:

Make sure it is branded in our colors: white, aqua, and pops of color.

Create margins between your pieces and a margin around your table so that it feels relax and cohesive.

Lockets are in the middle so the know what we are selling.

Move from left to right.

With the addition of the Bridal Collection, here is how you can set up for that:

Origami Owl Bridal Table Setup

Same guideline as the above but make changes to make it more for the occasion.

They added a ruffled fabric under the table cloth and have added lots of WHITE to the table.

Switch our basic trays for ruffled trays and linen busts to white busts.

Jewelry Bar Basics for Bridal starts on 3:25 of the video.

Whatever and wherever you set up, remember the following:

  • Clean Lines
  • Margins
  • Brand Colors
  • Focal Point (lockets in the center)

Happy Jewelry Bar Displaying!!!
