A Harry Potter-Filled Day in San Diego!

August 4, 2018 by Jennylou

This past May – May 16, 2018 – Origami Owl went LIVE on Facebook to reveal the jewelry that makes up the Harry Potter Collection, in collaboration with their people and JK Rowling, herself.

(If you’ve missed that LIVE, watch it now for the first time, or watch it again to relive that exciting moment for all HP Fans!)

***

Today, I got up early to meet a huge Harry Potter fan who I recently met through a local mom’s group. She had asked to meet with me to try on the Origami Owl ring for size and maybe take a look at Harry Potter pieces if I had any.

She did try on a ring, alright, but she didn’t go home with a ring. Instead, she went home with several pieces from the Harry Potter collection; Harry Potter Pocket locket, supporting characters like The Snitch and Hedwig, and the three main characters made in charms. She was ecstatic and happy that she was able to take it all home that morning. I was ecstatic to find out that her creation will be traveling with her to Broadway in New York, where she will be watching Harry Potter: The Cursed Child.

After my successful locket appointment, I was inspired to create even more Harry Potter locket looks to wear, share, and potentially sell.

I already made a Harry Potter locket yesterday to wear to the beach (see evidence) but wanted something different today.

Here are 2 looks I quickly put together after arriving home and before heading out to my Harry Potter events.

These looks were made with charms from the collection and placed in a Silver Bar locket. I love how they float around in there as if they’re flying like they do in the books and movies. I wore one of these before heading out the door. Can you guess which I wore?

Off we went to our first Harry Potter event for the day.

It was a mini-Lego build event that took place at a nearby Barnes & Noble Bookstore. It’s an event where LEGO partners with a venue to provide a free mini-kit to each child in attendance. Each child gets to build and take it home. Today’s event was building a mini Hogwarts ? Express Train. Each child receives a certificate of completion (which markets the much bigger sets that Kids really want) when finished building. It’s a genius way to market what’s new and available with Lego and grateful that it is free.

Isn’t it lovely? We will be adding this Hogwarts Train to our other mini-build, a Star Wars Millennium Falcon.

The other Harry Potter event going on tonight – and didn’t get to go to – in San Diego was the San Diego symphony playing Harry Potter music, under the stars at the Embarcadero. I really wanted to go but we ended up staying in because by evening, I was already too tired to leave the house, fight traffic, and search for parking. Maybe another day or summer.

So that was my Harry Potter “filled-enough” day.

Share with me, what Harry Potter events have you done with your family or looking forward to doing?

$100+ Shopping Spree for only $19?

August 3, 2018 by Jennylou

You may have been seeing this post around social…

Or this one:

So… is it true? Can you get $100 in jewelry for $19.

Yes, it is true. And no strings attached!

Yes, you can get $100 in jewelry for $19.

It’s actually more than $100 because Origami Owl gives you the jewelry at the designer discount or wholesale rate. Here’s a vid of me explaining this deal:

In other words, instead of $6 on a charm (that’s the retail price), your charm with this shopping spree is only $3.60 (wholesale pricing for reps). So, you see how that $100 shopping spree is more than $100?

How can one get this deal?

It’s only available to those who sign up with the On-the-go Starter Kit, available from now until August 15, 2018. You can sign up at https://locketsandcharms.origamiowl.com/enrollment/joinourteam

If you’re in it for the shopping spree, you can redeem it shortly after signing up, receive your order and be done with it. Enjoy your discount. You never have to buy Origami Owl again but if you do, your jewelry purchases are 20-40% off the retail price.

For those looking for MORE, this $19 deal is more than just a shopping spree. Did you know that you can make money with Origami Owl?

You can sell and make 20-40% commission for every single piece you sell. Receive an additional 10% commission when you reach 250 in volume in accumulated sales, by month’s end. That single $6 charm makes you $2.40-$3.00. See the commission add up when people create and purchase their story on your FREE website.  Yes, the website is included in this $19 promo.

What is in this $19 Signup? This On-the-go Starter Kit includes a website that links to you, 3 months of an app that has all the images you need to easily share Origami Owl online, 5 of our Fall/Winter catalogs and a charm from Origami Owl. Sounds amazing, right?! Again, no strings attached and no push or pressure to sell but it’s there if you decide you want a shot at extra spending $ for you.

And, if you do decide to share your link and happen to sell 100 in personal volume (pv) by August 31 11:59 pm Central Time, you get this Exclusive New Designer look for free:

Again, you don’t have to sell 100pv but if you do, this automatically is shipped to you by Origami Owl.

All New Designers who decide to start their Origami Owl business this month will get this exclusive look for FREE when they meet our basic business qualifications. Have a question for me about what it’s like to have an O2 business? I’d love to answer it! #directsales #jewelry

Yes, Origami Owl is so generous and so lovely.

Nintendo at Comic Con and my 8-bit Vintage Videogame-Inspired Watches

July 18, 2018 by Jennylou

I’m heading out tonight, to the place where Comic Con San Diego celebrations are taking place, to enjoy a sponsored event by Nintendo ( #NintendoSwitchTogether ). It’s going to be a fun night where I get to relive some childhood memories while showing my kids and others via social what’s new in family gaming from Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). We went to a similar event a couple years ago. It was that night that we found out a modern version of the vintage NES was coming out – a console that we couldn’t get our hands on for under $100 – btw, thanks to flippers. Anyways, here is our happy faces from that night:

Tonight, we make new memories with Nintendo and this time, with my little one in tow.

And what’s a Nintendo night without some theme dressing up that Comic Con is known for? I don’t have my attire in mind yet, but jewelry, yes!

First, I recalled and looked up some popular 8-bit games made by NES. Then, I picked out charms that could represent a game, to create a look. But I had way too many charms and had enough to create a couple looks.

What 8-bit games do you see in the rose gold watch?

What 8-bit games do you see represented in this black watch?

I have 25 vintage charms between these 2 Origami Owl watches… 25 charms inside the two representing Nintendo games with some charms able to represent several games.

I could tell you what games they are but it would be more fun to hear from you. What 8-bit vintage video games by Nintendo do you see?

Sadly I didn’t have a few, such as the current Palm tree charm by Origami Owl, to represent the many games with the tropics or jungle combat in them.

I am not sure if Origami Owl ever made a boxing glove charm or I just don’t have it. Therefore, no boxing game is represented here.

I do know that Origami Owl has never made a space ship (to represent Life Force or any of their space games) or a sword and shield charm to represent many of the early vintage games by Nintendo (such as Link or Zelda). If they do, I’d be all over that one for a million reasons!

Just for fun…. What games do you see? Is your favorite in these 2 watches? What is your favorite 8-bit game of all time?

This is not a sponsored post by NES or Origami Owl.

Finally, my Origami Owl Watch (my Summer story!)

July 18, 2018 by Jennylou

The first Origami Owl Signature Watch (with metal band) came out years ago. It first came out in Silver, then gold, then black, and for a limited time – rose gold. I have all of them but it requires removal of several links to fit me.

Some time ago, the silver face was available for purchase with a black leather band. I heard that this would work with my 5.5″ wrist but black is so… blah so I never made that purchase. But then, weeks ago, Origami Owl came out with this tropical print leather strap to go with a gold face and this is what I did: https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3OTQwOTAxMTgzMDkxMjIx/

I made the purchase and initially came out with this look…

… but before placing it on my arms, I decided to add one more charm:

The tropical-themed band was introduced and I finally created an Origami Owl Watch for myself. What do you think?

I posted the final look on my Instagram (http://instgram.com/locketsncharms) with the following caption:

It’s been a busy day today and finally got a bit of a breather, so I took this time to create my watch. It contains all the things we have been doing the past month. From sunshine to sunset at the beaches, the animals and flamingos at the Safari Park, the pandas at the zoo, a handful of coding camps in San Diego, eating tacos at Taco Stand, attending blogger events at The Nat, enjoying summer movies like Troll, relaxing and swimming in pools, baking at home and more… it’s definitely been so much fun so far – and we’re only halfway! What have you been up to? #sandiego #summer #locketsncharms #origamiowl #origamiowlsandiego #sandiegosummer #staycation
